The Three Legged Chair stands out from other chairs with its innovative approach to form and function. By breaking away from the conventional four-legged design, Zhai has created a chair that is not only visually striking but also space-saving and portable. The foldable structure allows for easy storage and transportation, making it ideal for small apartments or on-the-go lifestyles.
One of the key features of the Three Legged Chair is its integration of traditional Chinese wood culture. Zhai drew inspiration from the mortise-tenon structure commonly found in Ming-style furniture, as well as the corbel bracket principle used in traditional architecture. This not only adds a touch of elegance to the chair but also ensures a sturdy and durable construction.
Using modern furniture solid wood production technology, the Three Legged Chair can be made from bamboo glued wood or beech wood. The use of tenon and mortise joints, along with carefully selected hardware, ensures a strong and secure connection between the chair's components.
With dimensions of 600mm in length, 500mm in width, and 900mm in height, the Three Legged Chair is designed with ergonomics in mind. Its sleek and minimalist design fits seamlessly into any living space, while providing comfort and support.
The Three Legged Chair has garnered recognition for its innovative design. In 2019, it was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in the Furniture Design category. This prestigious award is given to designs that demonstrate a balance between practicality, innovation, and professional standards.
With the Three Legged Chair, Weimin Zhai has successfully merged tradition and innovation, creating a piece of furniture that not only reflects the rich heritage of Chinese wood culture but also meets the needs of modern living.
